Although I have a netbook I needed something with a little more 'punch' for my mobile computing needs. There are countless makes now and an array of specifications. But my needs were simple - a laptop that could play DVD's (for those long journeys on the train), word process (a very simple function) and connect to the internet. My netbook requires an external drive and I wanted something 'all in one' so to speak. At the prices this Samsung caught my eye. I got the 4gb version with a 500gb hard drive. It also comes with an AMD Dual Core E450 processor - this isn't cutting edge technology but is good enough for the requirements I had in this case. No point buying an all singing all dancing machine if I didn't really need it.So how did it do? Well word processing is such a simple task - any laptop can do it - but the keyboard is good - and that is a critical issue. In long sessions it holds up well. Wifi connection is good too. Connections are found quickly and without hassle. DVD playback - well it is good. The screen is clear and bright. There is little to be too critical of here. The laptop performs well with little fuss.At this price and for simple, basic functions this machine is worth considering.

This laptop has proved to be just what I needed. I am a novice "silver surfer" and is so easy to use that I set it up myself. As is usual with Amazon it arrived very quickly.

I am a technophobe so I cannot comment on the technical side of things but as a user I am absolutely delighted with my purchase. I am a touch typist so I type incredibly fast; the keyboard has raised keys and allows me to do this with ease. In general, it is fast, great graphics, easy to use, attractive. I am very, very, happy.
