Sony mini Hi-Fi review
By D.R
I was very happy when I received the Hi-Fi system. The sound quality is excellent with really amazing bass which you can switch off. I wasn't expecting the bass to be as good as this as it doesn't have a sub woofer but i was blown away literally. It's very loud and the radio is very clear. Its very compact and looks very good. Perfect for a teenage boys room. However I would not recommend it for a living room or kitchen as it does stand out. There are also many other features that arn't mentioned in the description so here are some of them. One minor negative is that batteries didn't come with the remote but apart from that from me its well worth getting five star.Made for iPod.LCD display.FM/MW/AM tuner.30 preset stations.1 CD tray.Search, memory, pause, skip and repeat functions.CD-R/CD-RW/MP3 playback.2 way speakers.2 x 50 watts RMS.Equaliser.Bass and treble controls.Powerful sound.Super bass.RDS.Clock.Sleep timer.Front loading iPod dock.Headphone socket.ID3 tag.General information:Remote control requires 2 x AA (included).Size of main unit H30.6, W20, D30.5cm.Size of speaker H30.6, W19, D18.5cm.EAN/Barcode: 4905524538694.

Super sound system
By Mrs. S. L. Tomlinson
This is a quality sound system, which you'd expect from Sony. For its price you get an excellent sound and solid construction. I use my iPhone without any problems and it's compatible with all the ipod range. The remote lets you scroll through menus easily and it takes only minutes to get the hang of its controls. The sound can be enhanced by the special DSGX button which gives it a great bass without distortion. I would certainly recommend this system for simplicity, function and quality.

Superb at this price
By baz
This Sony hi-fi is sturdy, a decent size(not to small and flimsy)and is very powerfull. Nothing negative at all to say about this unit. Looking at it and listening to the quality it produces you would expect it to be twice the price. Overall top marks!

Good sound but settings a bit fiddly
By Stephen Griffiths
Received in good time and in good order. Initial setting up was a bit of a trial. You really need to read the instructions very carefully else you can get confused. On following the setting-up instructions the radio only found about 10 DAB stations and none of them were BBC. Fishing about in the manual eventually resolved that problem, but it could have been clearer. The 12 buttons are somewhat small and sometimes confusingly multi-functional. The four brightness settings on the display go from very bright to off, the third dimmest setting is just about right, but if you turn off the display it is a bit of a grope to find the button to switch it on again in the dark. A good point though is that most of the buttons do not function unless the radio is actually on, so you can't go changing settings by mistake when poking about in the dark. Once set up and going the radio is excellent as you would expect from Roberts. It has good tone and I particularly like the slow volume increase when the alarm goes. No suddenly being woken by loud music or speech. As with many electronic gadgets, once you get used to the sequence of button pushes required to set the alarm, change station etc it is fine. I'm sure many people will find no problem at all, others like myself on the wrong side of 60 just take a little longer.

Good Basic Design
By Mr. D. Leeson
The old analogue alarm clock radio had to go... the off button had taken on an intermittent refusal to work and the aerial had fallen off requiring the device to be strategically placed to pick up radio four of a morning as opposed to a static hail. So, DAB wake up call it had to be.I went for this model because its neat, not over the top, and a fair price. And for my use, its mostly good news. Picks up all stations avaiable, sounds good, not too obtrusive. Adjustable light so it doesn't blind you while you try to sleep. Clear display, and two seperate alarms which can be set for every day, every weekday, or weekends, or one off - which is very good. However, should you be someone who regularly alters the alarm time I wouldn't recommend this as the process is a little long winded, requiring the radio to be turned on while the alarm is re-set and takes me two or three minutes. A minor quibble, but I think that the interfaxce could have been a lot nicer. And second, most important of all; it hums.I think all DAB devices do this to an extent. But for something which sits near your head in a quiet room while you try to get to sleep, they may have wanted to think this through a bit more. Everybody is differnt, I know. But, with it on my wooden bedside table, I couldn't sleep. However, having put in on a carpeted floor just under my bed, I sleep fine and can't hear it.So, if a ticking clock drives you up the wall, avoid this or put it on the other side of the room from where you sleep.

Excellent but ............
By Mr. Andrew J. Edwards
Bought this radio to replace an old analogue radio and it does everything it needs too with the exception of two little annoying 'features' which in my opinion let the item down.1. As reported else where the display is bright and even with the dimmer function at the lowest it does cast quite a light into the bedroom. You can switch it off altogether but I find that defeats the object of having a clock function !!!2. There is no way to set the wake up volume which is way too loud for my partner and me, but maybe that is just us !!!If you can live with these two 'features' then I would say buy the unit and I would have given it 5 stars other than these 'features'.

Good but one expected flaw and one unexpected major one.
By Marin-Rider
Having spent some money on one of these, I thought it worth reviewing. I'd done a deal of research prior to purchase. Not enough research, as it turns out.It looks neat, feels solid, has the functionality and physical design I want, the fascia's well laid-out and not button-bound like some, the display's bright and clear (unlike the Philips DCB 152 I tried but returned because both I bought arrived DOA) and sound quality of the CD, iPod and strong radio signals is really quite adequate. The speakers are warm and pleasant-sounding but get a bit floppy when the bass picks up, but hey, it's where you'd expect sound quality to be for a bit of kit like this. It's ok.Unfortunately, whoever designed the remote control never met the team designing the rest of the unit. It's small, and has 48 fiddly buttons on it, is labelled microscopically and is unpleasant to use. Whilst there's some functional grouping with respect to the buttons, it's not matched to actual and frequency of use. I could go on. And on. But 'remote control in ergonomic nonsense horror' is, sadly, old news. No, one of the major reasons for buying this thing was the DAB+/FM radio. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell how good the radio is because of the wretchedly inadequate aerial. A length of thin black wire, it's hard to get a decent signal where my cheap old Goodmans DAB box had no trouble at all. DAB is borderline, failing on a number of stations. FM is just laughable - it's barely capable of bringing in any kind of signal short of the really loud local commercial stations. "Well, go buy an amplified aftermarket one then and stop moaning", I hear you say. I'd love to, but Pioneer chose to use a proprietary connector for the aerial.Any improvement will only come from some serious filleting of the current aerial to connect it to something aftermarket to create a Frankenaerial. It'll probably work, but will look rubbish, and really shouldn't have to be done given what manufacturers should know about DAB.You know what it feels like, a bit? Like buying a BMW that's got four space saver tyres on it... Come on, Pioneer.p.s. also comical is the Warranty Certificate, which when fully folded out is A1 size, double-sided. Hilarious.

Disappointed
By D. A. Todd
Looks ok, sounds ok, but nearly all the functions are operated via the remote control which is small, fiddly and hard to navigate. The instruction manual is complex and confusing also. There are no radio channel presets on the unit itself, only on the remote. But my biggest bugbear is the DAB radio reception from this unit. It is not because I live in a poor reception area as i have a seperate DAB radio which has fine reception. It is because the unit comes with a woefully inadequate mouse tail wire aerial, which only recieves a very few stations in any real quality. I checked the pioneer website and even phoned their helpline to see if they supplied a better quality aerial, but they don't. And you can't buy one elsewhere either because Pioneer have made the connecter on the aerial just for their units which is not a universal type, and have no alternative port for any other type.

Great Deal
By S. Matsell
This laptop was a great buy. It's compact, fast, fairly lightweight, has everything I need and was great value. Even though it's second hand there was hardly a scratch on it and had so many more features than any brand new (cheaper) maker's model would have. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

Very happy with this so far, 3 month warranty not up yet.
By Anon
Dell Latitude D620 Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0GHz 1GB 80GB CDRW/DVD 14.1" WiFi Bluetooth XP Professional Laptop Notebook: I am very happy with this so far, the delivery was very prompt and the Laptop is in good condition, one small scratch on the lid, which is hardly noticeable. The 3 month warranty has about another month to go, but no sign of problems so far. There is a Microsoft certificate of authenticity and in addition to Windows XP Professional operating system it had Open office and AVG antivirus software loaded. It does not have the Extra disk partitions that Dell PCs usually have, probably because it is reconditioned, but that gives a greater amount of disk space for user data. There is a slight kink in the power supply unit DC lead, which is very common on these PSUs, but it is only just starting to kink so with care it will not be a problem. So far I am very happy with this and, hopefully, I will not have any problems in the near future, but if I do I hope the seller will provide the necessary help within the warranty period.

Very Pleased with my purchase and the seller
By Guv
After the purchase, the seller called me asking if I am pleased with the PC which I found very kind. After a week, my computer started making noises, hence contacted the seller. They were extremely nice and friendly, they changed my PC on the same day. The new one they gave me is just perfect, very fast. I am very pleased with this purchase because of the seller. They do not only sell, they provide you with support whenever you need.

Good Service
By torharris
Wanted an inexpensive processor to replace the one that died! This fitted the bill in every way and delivery service was terrific. It hasn't been asked to do too much as it is mainly to keep the grandchild off our main PC but it seems to do everything she needs and will be a good standby. I found the vendor's description to be exact and am pleased all round

Simple to Use
By Dave S
I have already bought this product 6 months months ago and recently purchased this via Amazon for my father aged 76. I like this product because of its simplicity and ease of use. Prior to this I had a Samsung which was more complex and not as good. This just does exactly what you want it too, easy recording and watching. Brilliant. I rate this 10/10 and so does my father who now enjoys this product with ease. No more keying in numbers (his old product)-just switch on, go to 7 day guide, select programme, press record and switch product off. Device will switch it self back on when TV/Film programme is about to start and switch it self off when complete. Tapes all programme no missing last 5 minutes.160GB is enough unless you want to tape more than 40 films, but we just record, watch and delete when seen. Disk space is sufficient for majority of people, however go for larger size if your a film and TV addict.

Great for the money.
By EOB
Bought this for my nephew. Can record freeview/ pause live tv/store & play all mp3's and plays DivX dvd rips ( not DivX HD bluray rips). Upscaled picture quality is excellent also.Seen the comments regarding subtitles: Turn them off in the default settings otherwise the unit comes set to auto on as default.Definately recommend to anyone on a budget.

Very nice unit but fiddly remote
By C. Gravell
Purchased two weeks ago and have put it through it's paces somewhat. The unit looks the business with a nice clean front panel. Basic controls are hidden behind a drop down panel.Just one oddity... the open/close drawer button is at the other end to the drawer itself, while the power button is above it.Recording to HDD seems to work very well and, unlike my previous Panasonic disc-based recorder, appears to adapt to slight schedule changes - grabbed all of MOTD last night despite it being delayed by Proms coverage.Series recording is possible and it's recorded Mock The Week for me twice, once again adapting to a schedule change.Odd thing... if you watch through the unit as it's recording, the subtitles appear on-screen though they don't appear when you watch the recording back unless you turn them on.Have tried quite a few xvid/divx data discs & normal DVDs and have had no problems; no stuttering, skipping or decoding artefacts. Picture looks very nice to me through my 32" LG flatscreen, which the remote also operates basic functions of.The remote has comprehensive controls but is a little fiddly - small buttons and tiny labelling - but nonetheless will become intuitive after a short time.Overall I am happy with the purchase.Excellent value for money.

Probably the best iPaq yet ...
By R. Maybury
I have now had this device for a couple of weeks. I have previously owned several Pocket PCs, including a few earlier versions of the iPaq. Of the ones I have tried, this is almost certainly the best. Having WiFi, Bluetooth, SDHC support (previous versions didn't support the new higher capacity cards that this one does - I have an 8Gb SD card in mine), a standard USB connection (previous iPaqs I owned use a proprietary USB connector) a relatively fast processor, the latest version of Windows Mobile (including useful new features such as SD card data encryption) all whilst retaining a relatively small form factor is a strong combination. Whilst many will opt for a Pocket PC phone (as my last Windows Mobile device was), having a seperate PDA from your phone has advantages for some e.g. if you are obliged to use a particular mobile phone for work (as I am) then you don't need phone features on your PDA. With this device I can keep all of my personal contacts seperate from the business contacts on my phone and use bluetooth to get my phone (a Blackberry Pearl) to dial any number I select on my iPaq Classic. Add in a high capacity SD card and this device doubles up as a reasonably competent media player. It has a standard headphone socket (no headphones supplied) or you can use the built in speaker. Web browsing over wi-fi works as well as any device I have seen of this size. It also comes with a rather nice slip case. Overall, not a stunning leap forward compared to previous iPaqs but its hard to find fault with it.

Excellent PDA - YOU MUST GET ONE!
By Ms. A. J. Smith
I've been using my Jornadas for years now and been quite happy with them, so you can imagine how wonderful it was to find this PDA for 140 quid from a seller on Amazon.Upgrading from a Jornada 928 was really a leap so you might be thinking that I'd think any of the new PDAs were brilliant. But, I have to say, this has all the features you could possible want for email, internet browsing (even though the mobile version is more limited than the PC version).Browsing is quick - pictures and text are loaded quickly from internet sites. You can use it for eBay. I am a seller and I use it to check my sales and the wap version of the eBay site loads fine and is easy to use (I had trouble loading it on my phone - it was just awful!). I haven't found any website to be a problem yet.Just tap the wi-fi icon and it finds your broadband router and asks for the wep key - it's that easy!I put my email details in and it tells me on my 'Today' screen if I have any new messages. It doesn't automatically delete them from the server, so you can use it as a window to view your messages before dealing with them properly at your laptop/pc. You can, however, set the PDA to delete all the messages from the server at the same time as you delete them from your PDA if you wish by changing a setting in the options. The newest version of Active Sync was supplied and picked up my new PDA and my old PDA no problem. The 'OK' button pressed and held for a couple of seconds lets you rotate the screen to landscape and I have found I prefer this view for other applications as well as for internet browsing. A left-handed option is also available in settings.I don't know what else to say other than this has wi-fi, bluetooth which are both really easy to set up. Ok, there's no phone or camera but I've already got a camera phone that I love for that and it suits me fine to have a PDA that's just for internet use and organization. All the necessary notes, word and calculation programs are included as well as superb media software. Programs load quickly so there's no waiting between screen taps and something happening. Fantastic little PDA!Great bargain and worth every penny! GET ONE!

Nice but heavy
By Orchard Gate
Great player with excellent picture and the resume feature - which surely should be a standard on all portable DVD players but isn't - makes it practical and convenient, as you start viewing where you last switched off. But be aware of one draw back - with the battery fitted (and what's the use of knowing the weight without a battery?) this beast is as thick as a hardback book and weighs 1.4kg. As this player replaced an older Shinco which I have owned for a few years and loved before it started to show signs of old age and which weighed less than half this LG product, it came as something of a shock.Of course the battery life is a lot longer but so too are my arms now, lugging around what feels like two bricks tied together.

Superb Picture Quality and Battery Life
By Sarah Allen
I bought this player after months of looking at portables. I mainly wanted it for my commute to work by train, to watch a mixture of DVDs and DIVX files.I'm delighted with my purchase. After all my going round in circles reading online reviews, it was a simple trip to Currys that decided it. The picture quality on this player is just streets ahead of the competition. Obviously it blew the Matsui and other Currys own brands out the water, but what surprised me is that it was simply so much better than the Toshibas that Currys stocked. If you go and look at players in a shop, look out for text appearing on screen. On the other players, sharp edges such as text were fuzzy and stepped. On the LG they're completely crisp. It's remarkable. The speaker is nothing to write home about but perfectly useable and as good as any of the other portable players. I will mainly be using this with headphones, for which there are two standard sockets.DIVX playback from a burnt DVD is fine. I haven't yet tested the SD card slot to see if they will play from there, but in theory they should.Battery life is excellent. The first charge lasted just over four hours. I had the brightness up the whole time as I was in daylight on a train, and also didn't use it continuously - it was on and off over the course of a few days. So the claim of six hours is probably accurate if you were to have it on constantly with the screen dimmed. Nonetheless, I'm impressed with four hours. The styling is beautiful as you'd expect from LG. It's shiny! The swivel screen is great for space-saving and clicks reassuringly in to place. It feels sturdy - I'm usually scared of breaking swivel screens!Neatly, there are no buttons on the player as most have. On the surround, to the left and right of the picture, are touch-screen controls. You touch a 'home' symbol and the menu pops up on screen, with touch-sensitive lights down the edges you touch to select things. Very, very neat. The player also comes with a remote.Accessory wise, it comes packaged with a soft case, charger and in-car charger, as well as an AV-out cable. There are a couple of down-sides which I don't mind but some people might want to consider:1) The screen is glossy. You do see reflections in it if you're somewhere bright, and the touch screen controls on the surround get covered in noticeable finger prints. Like so many LG products it's beautifully shiny but that's not always the most practical thing! This will be a consideration if you're buying it for kids.2) To be honest, I think this is something common to all portable DVD players: You can't display what you're watching in anything other than widescreen. So, watching old TV shows that are in 4:3, they get stretched to fill the screen. It's anywhere near as annoying on this size screen as it is on your 32" at home, but it might bug some.

Good Quality
By Johnny Reb
Following months of research into buying a new portable DVD player, I narrowed my choices down to this and the Sony DVPFX 730. Both had good features but the Sony had a few scathing reviews, despite being more versatile.I previously had a Goodmans model several years ago that broke down just outside its 1 year warranty after being used about 15-20 times only and both the retailer and Goodmans would not accept any sort of liability. Hence, I was being careful that the model I chose now had some sort of back-up if the DVD drive packed in - in this case, movies can be played via USB or memory card. This player is far better than I expected. A previous reviewer advised to check it out in Currys, which I did - they were not wrong, the picture quality easily outclassed everything on display. The resolution is not stated anywhere online but I can confirm the sticker on the player gives 800 x 480 (although the manual states 480 x 234 in the specifications and 720 x 576 in the instructions!) My guess is that the 720 x 576 may refer to playing movies with the player plugged to a TV, ie. not upscaling. Perhaps someone else can post a review confirming the actual resolution. There are only colour and brightness options, no contrast, but the picture really is good quality without the need of the contrast. The screen spins 180 degrees and can tilt, even folds back on itself if needed. This helps with controlling any unwanted reflections on its nice glossy screen (non of that plastic dull rubbish). The touch controls down the sides are nice and only need very light touch but I prefer to use the remote control that is actually a proper remote not one of those generic credit-card sized efforts.Sound quality is as expected - tinny through built in speakers, better in headphones. The surround option isn't worth mentioning. I can hear a slight whirring of the mechanism/electrics in the background during quiet scenes but this is negligible and dependant on the quality of the headphones used. The battery is bulky and the player does not fit properly in the case when attached but this is no big problem when the battery lasts as long as it does. I've watched 2.5 films over 2 weeks before battery needed recharging.I haven't tried the memory card slot yet but I did try the USB and found that mpeg files can be played, although not mp4. This was a pleasant surprise because it has saved me having to get a DivX converter program. I will update with any other formats I find that can be used - the manual states files with extensions .avi, .mpg and .mpeg can be played. All round a good quality player at a good price.UPDATE 13/03/12 - One year on and this player still plays beautifully.
